Here at Rehoboth Ale House, we pride ourselves on the beer that we serve. We are committed to finding high-quality beers for your enjoyment… okay, and maybe ours too! In this case, it’s mostly ours, but you’re invited too! On June 28th, a group of RAH employees headed over to Heavy Seas Brewery in Maryland and created a custom pin. While you’ll have to come out to our tapping event to find out what we brewed, let’s just say that it’s a perfect blend of the Delaware beaches and the high-quality beers that Heavy Seas are known for.
Here we are at the top of the platform in the brewery.
Unsure of what a pin is? We were too! While we certainly consumed our fair share of beers at Heavy Seas, our trip was so educational! Our staff was able to tour the brewery and hear from brewers and distributors about the process of brewing beer, and exactly what we would be doing. While I can’t provide an exact quote from the brewers that day (like I said, fair share of beers), I found a great article that lays it out for you!
“A pin is a smaller cask size, essentially a half-firkin. It holds 4.5 imperial (UK) gallons, which is 5.4 US gallons, which ends up being approximately 43 16-ounce pints worth of beer,” (KC Beer Blog, 2013).
I know what you’re thinking, “Jess, that’s not a lot of beer!” Believe me, I KNOW! That’s why you should get here early because once this beer is gone, it’s gone!
Here we are posing for a picture with the pin that we just created! Huge thanks to everyone at Heavy Seas that helped make this happen.
At RAH, we know that it is just as important to know how to describe the beers we’re serving as well as knowing the process behind the beers that we serve. While we can’t wait to share this beer with you, our trip to Heavy Seas was crucial to upholding the standards that we set for our staff, as well as our beers. Special thanks to everyone at Heavy Seas that made this project possible!
When we say there was a literal wall of cans inside of the brewery, we aren’t kidding. Of course, we had to stop for a photo!
